BY TAKING the drastic stand that it will not push for new facilities in Punggol East after losing the recent by-election, the People's Action Party (PAP) is sending the wrong signal to the 44 per cent of voters who supported it ("PAP won't push for facilities in Punggol East"; Wednesday).
[What about the signal to the 56% that did NOT vote for the PAP?]
If the party is really serious about winning back the Punggol East seat, it must not only continue its good work, but also work even harder and win over the people who voted against it.
Unless, of course, it has given up on recapturing the seat.

I am also puzzled because North East District Mayor Teo Ser Luck did not explain why the PAP is still meeting residents weekly in Hougang but not in Punggol East. He ought to explain this anomaly.

Since Dr Koh Poh Koon, the defeated PAP candidate, has rightly pointed out that Workers' Party MP Lee Li Lian must be given the space to do what she can for the residents, shouldn't the People's Association take heed of this and appoint Ms Lee as the adviser to the grassroots organisation?
